Family Day is Saturday

There’s lots of outdoor fun planned for Family Day. At 10:30, kids ages 1 - 10 who would like to race should sign up in the round room with Paul Waug or Lauren Rule. The race course will be set up on the slope in front of the club. Racing will begin at 11:00 AM with awards following at 12:00. From 1:00 – 4:00 PM, horse-drawn sleigh rides will leave from our parking lot. During that same time you can enjoy roasting hot dogs and marshmallows at the fire pit in front of the club. Don’t miss it! It’s a fun day for all ages.

Board Elections

Elections for the CSC Board of Directors will be held by email between February 12th and 19th. Look for candidate biographies to be posted in the club this weekend. They will also appear in the newsletter next week. There is still time to throw your hat in the ring if you are interested in running for the board. Please email caberfaeskiclub@caberfaeskiclub.org to get on the ballot.

Presidents’ Weekend, February 17th – 20th

On the Saturday of Presidents’ Weekend, we’ll have Adam Joynt entertaining during happy hour. Also, the kitchen will be open on Monday.

Annual Meeting and Steak Fry, February 25th

Saturday, February 25th at 4:30 the Annual Meeting will be held in the Stag’s Head Lounge. We hope as many of you as possible can be with us in person. (The party before and after is lots of fun!) However, if you wish to attend by Zoom, please send your email address to Katie at secretary-treasurer@caberfaeskiclub.org. A link will be sent to you prior to the meeting.

A steak dinner will follow the meeting at 6:30. Please sign up on the bulletin board in the rest room hall or by emailing Sue at caberfaeskiclub@yahoo.com if you plan to attend.

Proposed Addition to the By-Laws

One of the items of business at the Annual Meeting will be to vote on a proposed addition to the by-laws.

By-Laws currently state:

Article VI, Section 6: . . . Annual capital expenditures totaling more than 75% of that year’s capital project fund must be approved by two thirds of the members present at an Annual or Special membership meeting.

The proposal would add the following: If the board requires a timely approval on a capital expenditure, they may choose to submit a spending request to the membership via email. Emails shall be sent to all voting addresses. An explanation of the issue, pros and cons of approval, and reasons why a swift decision is needed shall be explained in the email. Members will be given at least 48 hours to respond via email. Approval of such a measure requires a yes vote by 2/3 of the respondents.

If you will not be attending the annual meeting in person or by Zoom, please send your proxy vote on this proposal.

Logo Wear Sale

There is still time to purchase gear with our ski club logo. Go to https://armadillo.printavo.com/merch/caberfae-ski-club. The site is active until February 28th.

Bartenders this Weekend

As of this writing, we are looking for volunteers to bartend on Friday. Please contact Katie at secretary-treasurer@caberfaeskiclub.org if you are available. On Saturday, bartenders will be Cathy and Michael Maher.

Good Times at our Club

Bonnie and Glenn Stout have organized two very special events held in the past weeks. Thank you to them for their dedication to the club. Here is Glenn’s report on the Reunion Potluck and Kids’ Dance.

On January 10, the fifth annual Caberfae Club Alumni Potluck was held. The attendance, open to all, was great with lots of storytelling, reminiscing, enjoying delectable food options, bellying up to the bar and sharing some mighty fine moves on the dance floor. We appreciate all who came to support this event….and all who helped in one way or another. Also, a big THANK YOU to Tom and Scott Winquist for making a special trip north to bartend for this memorable occasion.

Last Saturday afternoon many of our youngest club members and their escorts (mom, dad, grandpa and grandma) gathered for a lively Kids’ Club Dance Party held in our amazing Round Room. Music was provided by DJ Glenn as the party goers jumped, swayed, twirled, and danced the afternoon away to the irresistible beats booming from the loud speaker under the bursts of flashing colored lights. It was an amazing moment for all…..big and small…..a time to remember…..at our club….so much FUN! Many thanks to those who attended and also those that gave of their time preparing to make this a successful event. It does take a village of volunteers. A special THANK YOU to our wonderful club manager, Sue Egelus, for contributing decorations and balloons and providing snacks as well as a tasty hotdog meal for our attendees.
