Caberfae Delivered Opening Day!

Club Hours and Ticket Agent

Help Stoke the Fire!

Lockers are Sold Out!

No Bad News by Sam Hogg

1.  Opening day a success!

Thank you to all that assisted Caberfae Peaks when they were in need! Consumers worked on the lines all weekend and should be finishing new service soon. Saturday opened with snow and sunshine for those that were able to ski. The club was open and members were able to partake in their first “Sue burger” of the season and were not disappointed.

2.  Club opens when Peaks is open

Club opens at 9:30 a.m. each morning Saturday and Sunday with slopes opening at 10:00 a.m.  A ticket agent will be on hand for two hours beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the kitchen. Kitchen will close at 3:00 p.m. with bar open Saturday only from 3-8:00 p.m. Remember all times subject to change based on ski conditions and availability.

3.  Saturdays during the season

If weather permits we will start to stoke a fire on Saturday mornings in the front of the building. If you see it needs attention, feel free to add a couple of logs.

4.  Don’t think an open locker means it’s open

If you have a locker, you are one of the lucky ones. For those that don’t, please don’t put things in lockers that aren’t yours. All lockers are bought and paid for. If you aren’t on the locker wait list and would like to have a locker in the future, please contact secretary-treasurer@caberfaeskiclub.org and get on the list.

Note: For those that have lockers, please make sure we have access to the locker by having the code or key in the locker cabinet in the kitchen. This way if a member of the family or staff needs to access the locker they can. Cutting locks is not fun. See Sue in the kitchen if you have any questions or need assistance.

5.  Sam’s No Bad News 2023-4 Volume I

Greetings everybody. Happy ski season and what a wild offseason.  New board members?    A storage shed behind the drain field?  Supervised kids in the bar?  How about new board members... supervising my kids... in the storage shed behind the drain field... while I'm in the bar?  Brooks loves chainsaws and ATVs, seems like a win, win, win.

All kidding aside, through hard decisions and turmoil the Club will always thrive because of folks who genuinely care about it.  That means everyone who chimes in and especially your board members who voluntarily lend their ears to the chiming.  Let democracy do its thing and let's be respectful.  It has worked out for (most) countries that have tried.

My first day on skis this season was short-lived.  I should have known when Tac and Carol Lee beat me to Sunday chair pole position to just turn around.  Alas, the bad omen reared its head on my third run when the toe piece of my right ski exploded and I cartwheeled accordingly down Lower Canyon. I recall asking my longtime ski buddy Ry before the run if something looked a bit off on that side and his response as we raced from the chair was, jokingly, "probably".

After collecting my binding parts, body parts and pride I realized how lucky I was to instead catch Bloody Mary pole position at Arlo's.  Sitting at the bar laughing with Dennis, Curtis and crew about the sea of Consumers Energy trucks fixing their own blunder on a Sunday, I couldn't help but appreciate this special place coming alive again for another season.  On the walk home it dawned on me that I can ski better mountains but I'll never have more fun than at Caberfae.  Have a great December and hope to catch you there.
