1.  Opening day for skiing postponed

For those thinking of skiing over the holiday, mother nature has not heard your call. As of this newsletter December 2 is opening day. Keep watch on Caberfae Peaks website.

2.  Important policy information

As reported in the previous newsletter, the CSC Board is considering whether to allow persons under the age of 18 in the upstairs lounge. Members have approached the Board on this topic, citing a need for more space, particularly during crowded weekend hours, and expressing frustration that families with children are not able to use the full Club facility. The Board supported a motion at its October meeting to allow persons under the age of 18 in the upstairs lounge. In response, members have spoken out in opposition to the policy change. We recognize that there are perspectives on both sides of this issue, and don't want to do anything which is at odds with the membership. We appreciate the response we've received thus far, want to give members more opportunity to provide input, and ultimately want to make sure any Board action reflects the will of the membership. The Board plans to seek your input via a member survey in the coming weeks, and will reserve any action until that survey is complete.

3.  Get your new sweatshirt before it’s too late!

4.  Update on proposed storage building

The recent member poll on the proposed storage building and partnership with Friends of the Mackenzie Trail indicated strong support from the membership! With 65 members responding, 87 percent said they’d support such a partnership, including the construction and lease of the proposed storage building to house the new XC trail grooming equipment.

The plan is to now develop a comprehensive proposal which can be presented to the membership at the Annual Meeting. This will provide the opportunity for members to share their perspectives in an open forum, vote on the proposal, and could set the stage for the project to be ready for the next ski season!

Please reach out to any board member or Sam Hogg with Friends of the Mackenzie Trail with any questions or feedback.
