Celebrating Over 80 Years of Skiing and Lifelong Friendships
November 23, 2021 Vol. XV, #4
What's the skinny on opening day?
At 11 A.M. Tuesday (11/23) Caberfae Peaks announced it just wasn't in the cards to produce enough skiable snow to open on the Friday after Thanksgiving. The new goal is targeting the following weekend, Saturday, December 4, 2021. Let's keep our skis crossed and shake those snow globes. Maybe we can will it to happen.
Please welcome new members, and bid adieu to some old friends. Join our family for the 2021/2022 season are:
Keenan Cooper, Legacy Member.
Amy Jung, Legacy Members.
Melissa Rowley, Legacy Member.
Dave and Megan DeMallie.
Tom and Cindy Medema.
Steve and Laura Pentices.
Jarid and Sara Sper.
John and Jeannette Stoudt.
... and we will miss our old friends who are leaving us:
Steve and Laura (Huckle) Betteley.
Dave and Kris Darrow.
Kevin and Michelle Dunaway.
Mary Jane Woods.
Wanted. Photos of skiers and boarders alike
Ya know, we have this beautiful photo board, proudly displaying club members. But, there are a number of families missing ... and not necessarily "in action." How about, as you gather around your Thanksgiving table, you take a moment and snap a photo of you and your beautiful family, for inclusion with our beautifully club families, on our our ski club photo board? Thank you.
COVID UPDATE - from club president, Pat Bourassa
Much to our dismay, Covid is still an issue this season. The board continues to follow the latest recommendations and is dedicated to keeping our members safe while enjoying the club.
This year you will not need to sign in when coming into the club.
As recommended by the MDHHS Public Health Advisory, we are asking that all members be masked when indoors and not eating or drinking.
Like last year there will be a limited number of tables and chairs available to encourage social distancing as much as possible. Please be sure to allow others their personal space.
Our dining room will be open this year. Take out food will be available for those who aren’t comfortable dining indoors.
Similar to last year, the children’s toys will not be available for use.
When the bar is open, a staff bartender will be serving. Bar items will be available through the dining window when the bar is not open.
Members did a great job of navigating the changing environment last year. Thank you very much for doing your part!
NEW SEPTIC SYSTEM
The septic system at the club was living on borrowed time. Paul contacted several septic contractors for design and implementation and presented a proposal to the board. Fortunately, we were able to get bids, select a contractor and get the system installed before the start of the season. Thanks to members for understanding the significance of the situation and voting to provide the necessary investment.
You will see a barrier around the area where the new system was installed. It is important that there is NO vehicle traffic on the new system. Also, you will see the cleanout stack near the back corner of the building. Please use caution in this area as well.
