Fresh powder on the ground and the parking lot’s open!

That’s no exaggeration! There was fresh powder yesterday morning in the Cadillac area.

SPRING WORK BEE and CHAIN GANG is in the air and on the calendar for this Saturday, May 1st from 8:30 A.M. until noon.  Bring your mask and gloves and enjoy the song birds singing in the forest, sorta like in Snow White … but not quite.  Our cast includes Waddy, Sam Hogg, Marty Manley, Paul Waug, Brian Nyland, Ron Kimble, and Cris Dipple.  Norma was going to be Snow White, but said, “I’m not waiting around for some dumb prince to come trotting out of that forest on an old nag, besides, I got one at home.”  (I’m not sure if she was referring to a prince or an old nag, waiting for her at home).  Anyway, Pat Bourassa is the understudy.  Don’t tell her.  It’s a surprise.  We couldn’t get a horse either, so Jeff Demek, playing the role of the prince, will ride in on a mule.  Not of the gasoline powered variety.

IF YOU’RE PLANNING TO PARTICIPATE, please contact Paul Waug in advance of Saturday.  He will hook you up with an assignment so you’ll know what you job will be. Paul’s contact info: waugelect@aol.com  (248) 563-4013.

BE SURE TO SIGN THE ATTENDANCE SHEET while you’re pressed into servitude at the Work Bee.  This is how Norma knows if you’ve been naughty or nice.  And whether or not to charge you the Work Bee assessment.  It’s OK if you forget, the club can use your cash.

If Norma determines there’s a big pile of lost treasures in the Lost n’ Found, there just may be an impromptu Auction.  You might want to make sure you kid’s stuff is no longer ‘lost,’ but ‘found’ so there’s no need for an auction.  Just sayin …

While lunch will not be provided, it is rumored that the cooler may be unlocked and unattended.

Did I saw, wear a mask?  I think I did.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CLUB BIKE RIDE & PICNIC …  but it’s not on the 4th … and for some reason it’s no longer PC to say “Fourth of July.”  And, we didn’t want to confuse anyone (especially Guy Benson who still insists that he was there for the signing of the Declaration of Independence … he's the ‘Guy’ in the yellow vest).

So, get ready to pump up those bike tires for the Lake Cadillac Bike Ride and Picnic on Saturday, July 3th.  The Lake Cadillac Bike Ride gets underway at 10 a.m. at the Rotary Pavilion (Band Shell) on the shores of Lake Cadillac in downtown Cadillac.  The ride around Lake Cadillac is about seven miles.  For those who wish to pedal the figure eight and go around Lake Mitchell, plan an additional 13 miles to your excursion.

Following the bike ride there will be plenty of time to rest-up before the picnic at the Caberfae Ski Club.

Picnic begins at 5:30 pm in the afternoon with beverages and swapping lies.  Please bring your own beverage, place settings, and lawn chairs.  In this COVID world we need to figure out how to do a picnic. Folks who love pouring over government regulations are working on the food challenges. One thing is for sure, the Senior Grill Team promises to not interfere with the culinary arts.

The bike ride and picnic are being coordinated by two generations of the Demek family.  If you’re planning to attend, please RSVP to Sandy Demek at. (734) 591-0586, or email her at: sdemek@gmail.com   Join the fun!  Wear a mask!  Be a firecracker … don’t be a dud!

THE SURVEY SAYS!

Keep an eye on your mailbox next week for a short survey from the House Committee regarding dining room and kitchen improvements, including a question about traffic flow around the dining room.  The survey opens on May 1st and closes on May 15th.
