Celebrating 80 Years of Skiing and Lifelong Friendships
November 19, 2019 Vol. XIII, #3
SEE? IT WASN'T A JOKE, the resort really did open last Saturday and Sunday, marking the earliest opening in many years. Folks really did have a wonderful time, and some even got a little sunburn.
KATHLEEN Anderson, our home-grow ticket Elf, did a fantastic job in spite of being sedated with dozens of frosted cinnamon rolls and jelly filled donuts. Our little pixie proved once again that Norwegian House Elves can eat nonstop for hours and not gain a single ounce. In fact, she actually lost weight. She did however, have the cutest case of the hiccups while sitting in the corner of the bar, up in the Stag's Head Lounge, enjoying Peppermint Cosmo, one after the other.
THANK YOU Sue, Sharon and Spencer for keeping the kitchen fires burning and tummies warm and full on such short notice. Sue and her crew never cease to amaze us on what they can create out of fresh snow and icicles.
AND THEN there was Chris and Vallery Ritz who kept the antifreeze flowing up in the Stag's Head Lounge. A special CSC Thank You to Chris and Val for stepping up to run the bar. If they had not, it would have been a dry opening ... and that just can't happen. Hint! Hint!
HINT! The Stag's Head Lounge needs a qualified bartender in order to open this weekend. Do you know of anyone? Hmmm? If so, contact Sam Hogg at hogg.sam@gmail.com.
THIS WEEKEND: OK, here's the deal. The resort plans to be open this Saturday and Sunday, November 23rd and 24th, from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. both days.
The plan for Thanksgiving week is to be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 29th, 30th and December 1st, from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. each day. But a wise man once said, "Best to check the website for updates, because you can always trust what you read on the inter-webs."
A TICKET ELF WILL BE BACK AT THE CLUB on Saturday and Sunday morning!
LOOKING AHEAD TO THANKSGIVING WEEKEND. There will be live music on hand in Beatie's Bar for some apes ski tunes from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. on Saturday, November 30th.
SECOND RUN THROUGH THE GATES:
A SURE SIGN WINTER’SON ITS WAY is the annual used Ski & Snowboard Equipment Sale scheduled for this coming Saturday, November 23rd at the Cadillac Junior High School Cafeteria located along the north side of Lake Cadillac on Chestnut Street near downtown Cadillac.
STEP 1. (optional) Drop off your old equipment and clothing at the Cadillac Junior High School Cafeteria on Chestnut St. Friday the 22nd from 4:30 to 8 pm.
STEP 2. Beginning at exactly 9 A.M. on Saturday, November 23rd you can enjoy a Black Friday-like experience looking for the bargain of the decade inside the JH Cafeteria. The sale runs until noon, but if you wait that long, the pickings will have melted away.
STEP 3. If you brought in gear to sell, plan to return between noon and 12:30 to redeem your booty. The organizers subtract a paltry 25% commission from all sales. These monies go to the Cadillac Area Ski Club to support ski racing programs in the Cadillac area. However, it’s no accident that Sun n’ Snow will be open at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning, for your ski shopping convenience.
