Inside this issue:

1. INDEPENDENCE DAY PICNIC and BIKE RIDE!

2. WANTED! HIRED GUN TO PROTECT CLUBHOUSE

3. MARK YOU CALENDAR FOR THE FALL WORK BEE and GOLF OUTING

4. A LITTLE REMINDER ON HOW THE WORK BEE CREDIT WORKS

1.  INDEPENDENCE DAY PICNIC and BIKE RIDE! … previously known as the 4th of July Bike Ride and Picnic … but it’s not on the 4th … and we didn’t want to confuse anyone (especially Guy Benson who still insists that he was there for the signing of the Declaration of Independence … he's the fellow in the yellow vest).

So, get ready to pump up those bike tires for the Annual Lake Cadillac Bike Ride and Picnic on Saturday, July 7th.  The Annual Lake Cadillac Bike Ride gets underway at 10 a.m. at the Rotary Pavilion (Band Shell) on the shores of Lake Cadillac in downtown Cadillac.  The trip around Lake Cadillac is about seven miles.  For those who wish to pedal the figure eight and go around Lake Mitchell, plan an additional 13 miles to your excursion.

Following the bike ride there will be plenty of time to rest-up before the picnic at the Caberfae Ski Club.  Picnicking begins at 5:30 pm in the afternoon with cocktails, swapping lies and comfort food.  Please bring a dish to pass, your own beverage, place settings, and lawn chairs.  The club will spring for burgers and brats.  The Senior Grill Team promises to not interfere with the culinary art of those with the flippers.

The bike ride and picnic are being coordinated by two generations of the Demek family.  If you’re planning to attend, please RSVP to Sandy Demek at. (734) 591-0586, or email her at: sdemek@gmail.com.  Join the fun!  Be a firecracker … don’t be a dud!

2. WANTED! HIRED GUN TO PROTECT CLUBHOUSE.  The board is looking for a cross between Don Johnson from Miami Vice, and Kevin James from Mall Cop, to lockup the clubhouse each evening throughout the ski season.

The candidate will be issued a shiny plastic badge and a key … one key … the same key all members have been issued … and lost.  The job description reads “One must be of the highest caliber and of outstanding character.  No felony convictions within the past ski season, and never apprehended sliding down the slopes on a cafeteria tray.”  A list of members not fitting the first two qualification was to be listed here.  However, there wasn’t enough room.

Locking the clubhouse on a daily basis is actually a serious issue as the previous resource is no longer available.  The perks are pretty good.  The successful applicant will be treated to a free breakfast every Saturday during the season.   So, if you’d like to get instant respect that you don’t have to earn, and a new key to the clubhouse (no questions asked), contact Norma Roelfsema, club secretary/treasurer at roelfsen@gmail.com or call (616) 548-0228.  Oh, rumor has it there may be a small stipend for services rendered.

3.  A LITTLE REMINDER ON HOW THE WORK BEE CREDIT WORKS.  If you attend a Work Bee before the season begins, or after the season ends, you will receive a credit on you club dues for the next year.  In other words, if you attended the fall 2017 Work Bee, or the Spring 2018 Work Bee, you will receive a credit on your 2018/19 Ski Club Dues.

4.  MARK YOUR CALENDAR

    Fall Work Bee: 8:30 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018

Club Golf Outing will tee off in the afternoon at 2 p.m. following the fall Work Bee, Saturday, October 6, 2018.
