CABERFAE SKI CLUB -- LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
September 2008
I hope everyone has had an enjoyable summer. I have to admit that as busy as I am this fall my thoughts are starting to drift toward skiing. Just this last week I started making an inventory of my kid's ski equipment and plans for possible ski trips for myself and my family. I know I'm not the only one thinking about skiing, since I've had several people in the last few weeks inquire about joining the club or about the racing in the Wednesday night race league.
I am pleased to let you know that Jim Sturm has been appointed by the board to serve out the remainder of Mark Gursky's board term. Jim's expertise in the building trades and building materials will be a vital asset to our board as we continue to look at ways to maintain and improve our club facilities. Speaking of improvements, there will be new carpeting installed in both the upstairs and downstairs before the club opens this fall. In addition, new upholstering will be applied to the upstairs sofa and chairs. A new aluminum soffit has already been installed under the overhang of the upstairs deck.
The transition of secretary/treasurer from Chris Dipple to Marty Manley this past spring went well. Chris has agreed to stay on board at least to some degree to see Marty through his first full year. Thanks Chris for your service over the last several years.
Fun was had b
y all at the Annual Bike Ride and Potluck on July 6'h and the golf outing on September 20 . Both were well attended. A lot has happened since the club closed on March 23 and all of the people that have made these things happen deserve a big thanks. As most of you know there are just so many people who volunteer their time and energy to make belonging to the CSC an enjoyable and worthwhile experience that it's impossible to thank them all.If you have a minute check out the new look of the Caberfae Ski Club web page.
This website is now even easier to navigate and most of what you need to know about the club, from by-laws to membership fees to the latest enewsletter, can be found here.My family and I are looking forward to seeing
all of our CSC friends again this year and who knows, maybe we will have even better ski conditions than last year's.Sincerely,
James Netzley, President
