Club Membership

Dear Prospective Member,
 
     Thank you for your interest in the Caberfae Ski Club. We’re glad that you are considering the benefits of membership in our organization.
     We are a family oriented ski club in a unique position of owning our own property at a ski resort. We exist to gather people who are interested in having fun in the snow by providing a friendly social club for those who enjoy skiing. We have been in existence since the late 1930s. In fact, our club was part of a Cadillac Winter Sports organization which started the original Caberfae Ski area.
     We have approximately 150 memberships with members in their 90s to young members just starting their professional or working careers. We have our own food and beverage services at the club, and since we are a not-for-profit group, our prices are lower than typically found at a ski resort. We have ski lockers for rent at a very reasonable rate, and although we have our own parking lot, parking is limited on weekends to those who have parking permits.
     The club generally opens for the season when the area opens and is open through the Christmas holidays, and Presidents’ Day. The club opens at 9:00 a.m. Season pass holders may pick up their lift tickets at the club between 9 and 11 a.m. on weekends. Closing time varies, based on social activities occurring at the club. During the months of January and February, the club will be open on Fridays from 9:30 to 4:30 p.m. Each Saturday night during January and February, the club will be serving a "theme" dinner, generally with a social activity following the dinner. Children are welcome.
     Although the club manager serves excellent and tasty lunches at reasonable prices, you are welcome to pack your own lunch if you choose. However you may not bring alcohol into the club as we have a club liquor license. Smoking is not allowed in the building (with limited exceptions) and persons under the age of 18 are not allowed on the second floor. (Certain social events are exceptions to this latter rule.) Parking is not allowed in the club lot on weekends without a parking permit. You may use the lot temporarily to unload and load your vehicle.
     You may bring guests into the club a limited number of times. Daily guest fees are: $2.00 per adult, $1.00 per child, $5 per family, payable to the club manager. Guest fees are not charged for attendance at social events, but guests may not purchase alcohol at the club bar. Members are responsible for all guest fees.
     Annually, the club has a work bee in May and October to get the place ready for the next season. Painting, repair, maintenance and other similar work is the agenda for the day. If you do not participate in one of these work bees, there will be a small fee added to your club bill. You will billed in October for annual dues and fees.
     Hopefully, you will take full advantage of membership. We have a long, long history of great skiing at Caberfae. You can be a part of that history.

Club House Rules

CABERFAE SKI CLUB HOUSE RULES
 
 1. The Caberfae Ski Club Board may amend and adopt additional rules when, in its judgement, such action is deemed advisable.
 2. This is your club. It is being operated for you in such a manner that meets the wishes of a majority of the membership. Any suggestions for improving the club should be addressed to the President or to any board member.
 3. All dues and fees are due November 15. A late payment of $50 will be imposed on all delinquent bills after that date. If dues and fees are not paid by December 1, membership will be canceled. Locker fees and parking fees are payable when regular dues are payable.
 4. Guests may enjoy the privileges of the club when accompanied by a member in good standing (Click here for Guest Rules.) All guests are to be registered with the staff and guests fees are to be paid at rates established by the board. Sponsors of guests are responsible for the conduct of those guests. ONLY MEMBERS MAY PURCHASE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AT THE BAR. The number of visits by guests is limited.
 5. No member or guest may remove any article belonging to the club without written permission of the board of directors.
 6. Children shall not be left unattended in the club.
 7. No one under the age of 18 shall be allowed upstairs. Allowances will be made for special events. Those 18 to 21 will be allowed upstairs but without the privilege of purchasing alcoholic beverages. Parents are responsible for children under the age of 21.
 8. Food, refreshments or merchandise purchased in the club must be paid for at the time of purchase.
 9. Club members and guests are to clean their own tables and put litter in the containers provided.
 10. No skis, poles or snowboards are to be brought into the ski club, except into the locker rooms. Waxing and tuning of skis is allowed ONLY in the cold locker room. No skis or snowboards may be left overnight in the locker rooms unless stored in lockers.
 11. Only members with paid parking permits may park in the club lot during holidays and weekends. Temporary parking in the lot for unloading and loading is allowed.
 12. All complaints shall be addressed to the manager, President or board member. Members may not reprove any employee.
 13. All members are expected to respect the rights and privileges of other members, conducting themselves in a friendly and courteous manner.
 14. Members may not bring alcoholic beverages into the club nor remove such items from the club.
 15. Members may pay a workbee fee in lieu of participating in a workbee at the club.
 16. Pets may not be brought into the club at any time.
 17. MEMBERS JOINING AFTER JANUARY 1, 1999 MAY NOT SMOKE IN THE CLUB.
