ELECTION FOR NEW BOARD MEMBERS
BALLOTS for electing new board
members should appear in your mailbox very soon. Ballots must be returned by February 24th so the results may be
tabulated and presented to the membership at the CSC Annual Meeting on Saturday afternoon, February 25th. Check out
the bios below of the four candidates. There’s only one ballot per membership, so watch for the postman and be the
first in your house to fetch the mail. Remember, the early bird gets to vote.
MEET THE
CANDIDATES
Sandy
Simmons
I have been skiing at Caberfae for
many, many years. My husband, Bill, and I have been married for 31 years with four children, three of which I
acquired through marriage. We live in Cedar Springs and also have a home on Caberfae Lane.
I was an elementary school teacher
for 30 years and am currently retired. During those years, I was involved with numerous District-wide committees
and also served as a chairman. I have found that this committee experience enhanced my ability to work with people
of similar interests but different backgrounds.
I was a Michigan Blood Drive
volunteer for 13 years, working on blood drives twelve times a year. This experience gave me insight and
understanding in dealing with people under mild stress and time limit schedules.
I have been a Caberfae Ski Club
member for 10 years. I’m all for the Club and am glad to see it grow. I enjoy the members, their commitment to
skiing and the wholesome life style. I am dedicated to the Club’s continued improvement as well as enhanced
communication for the benefit of all members.
Since I am now retired, I believe
that I am able to devote more time and energy to the club. I value your vote and would appreciate having the
opportunity to serve as your Board member.

I have been a member of the Caberfae
Ski Club for nine years with my wife Sheri Winquist-Frye. We always enjoy the members and facilities every time we
visit the club. It’s a great place to take our family and the grandkids love it.
I lived in the Kalamazoo area my
first 57 years and then moved to Cedar Springs when I married Sheri in 2001. We loved the Caberfae area so much
that we built our cabin in 2006 (again in 2009) so we could spend more time skiing and meeting friends at the
club.
I graduated from Portage Central High
School in 1963 then after 1 ½ years at MSU I spent four years serving my apprenticeship in Tool and Die. After 10
years in the Tool and Die business, I joined Durametallic/Flowserve as a Manufacturing Engineer and recently
retired after 36 years. After working on many projects nationally and internationally I will look forward to making
the Caberfae Ski Club my main project for the next four years.
In the past, I have served on the
board of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) on both the local Kalamazoo chapter and the Regional
organization.
If I earn your vote, as a board
member I will work to keep our club enjoyable and safe. Also, I will work on getting Free Beer Friday
Nights.

This is the fourth year that my wife
Melissa and I, along with our two children, have been members of the club. We were both raised in Cadillac and
became High School / College sweethearts. We now live in Wixom, Michigan where I work as Operational Controller
(finance) for three plants of a Livonia, Michigan based company.
I am personally thrilled with being a
club member and appreciate the impact the club has on families and individuals. I would like to commend the current
board and club managers for their efforts. It is their dedication and contributions which have inspired me to run
for the board and become part of the team. I like the direction the club is heading with the events for both youth
and adults, so the entire family can enjoy the club beyond the ski slopes.
One benefit I would contribute to the
Board is that I am both a Cadillac cottage resident and I live down state, traveling up most weekends for skiing at
Caberfae. I believe my strengths in business administration, financial management and human resources have allowed
me to connect, interact and motivate others throughout my career. I also feel my individual integrity; reliability
and loyalty make me well qualified for the Board. I have no promises to offer if elected to the Board, other than I
will listen to everyone and work hard to do what’s best for all.
I have been involved with Boards and
golf associations in the past. I am an avid golfer and enjoy boating along with all sports in general. Although I
haven’t fully decided on cross country skiing yet. However, when I do hit the trails, my ultimate motivation is
definitely getting back to the club for fellowship and refreshments!
Thank you in advance for your
consideration.
Pat
Goggin
I would like to toss my hat in the
ring for another term. I joined the board four years ago riding the wave that launched the eNewsletter the year
before. I am proud of that effort as well as having been part of the team leading the charge to redecorate the
Stag’s Head Lounge, opening the Round Room to midweek skiers, and helping the Founder’s Fireplace become a
reality.
Looking towards the future, I support
improvements to the Round Room. For example, many have asked about what can be done to enhance the fireplace and
upgrade the benches to improve storage and expand seating.
From an activity standpoint, I would
like to see the club develop youth programs targeting the late afternoon and early evening, so the entire family
may enjoy the club.
P.S. There is absolutely no truth to
the rumor that I maliciously altered the bios of my fellow nominees… as tempting as it was. Oh wait!... I almost
forgot. If elected, I promise all children will be well behaved, that they will pickup after themselves, and two
free parking passes for every member. In addition, I will secure a legion of Highland House Elves to assist in
buckling of boots and the removal of same at the end of the day. Vote for Pat Goggin! Extra ballots available upon
request.
